I’m so glad that Dr. Kirk shared his story. I haven’t owned a motorcycle in almost 25-years, yet as I’m quickly approaching age 50, I’ve become somewhat obsessed with returning to riding. I felt like this book was written just for me, but I’m sure thousands of other guys my age are also being pulled by an inexplicable force to start riding, or return to riding. Dr. Kirk’s honesty about his fears, doubts and anxiety were quit comforting, but what I really appreciate was how well he is able to describe the beauty and the transcendence of being one with the machine, the road, and the world around you as you ride with skill, grace and confidence. I also appreciate his views on motorcycle safety and the quest to truly master riding. So far my wife has been supportive of my recent fascination with returning to riding, although perhaps a bit puzzled by the whole thing, but this book will really help her understand what I’m up to, and why.The book is very well written and a pleasure to read. Dr. Kirk, I’ll see you in Missoula. Mr. Kirk has perfectly described the obsession with motorcycles that many of us experience. His book describes the addiction that those who have not had the privilege of experiencing the zen of motorcycling find impossible to understand.
